A Quality Expert in Healthcare

Gina Campbell, Regional Director of Quality at Baystate Noble Hospital, and previously the Chief Operating Officer at Baystate Franklin Medical Center, has over 30 years of leadership and management experience in community hospitals. One of her biggest roles includes managing all aspects of hospital quality. That job involves measuring results for all required internal and external reporting, hospital quality department design and restructuring, as well as service line team development and support for performance improvement initiatives.

Gina is an expert in leading all aspects of hospital regulatory compliance and has considerable experience coaching and mentoring leaders for success. As the Director of Quality, Gina uses research to help with strategic planning, program development, and operations for clinical quality, performance improvement and safety programs and initiatives that support patient populations or services throughout the hospital in her regional area.

“Research plays a significant role in health care, in both practice and care” says Gina and “research guides our constant search for what is best practice.” Gina and her team of health professionals use proven research to measure quality and patient safety for clinical areas in the hospital such as the determine patients who visit the ER, surgery and medical surgical units. This data helps with day to day operations and helps guide best practices for the hospital.

Gina says, “I constantly challenge those I work with to look outside our four walls to see what others are doing, and are there better practices. Most better practices have their base in research, or just study over time of what works and improves care.”

Gina also sees the field of healthcare research adapting in the future specifically through the use of technology. Technology makes so much available to us from the research world, just simply thru the click of a button on the internet.

Gina is described by her peers as a team player and as a leader at the hospital, and specifically with a focus on quality and patient safety, she is always working across the organization with leaders, providers, and frontline staff to improve care. Research drives Gina’s role, and she says “I don’t know where I’d be without it.”
